About the Author

Suzanne L. Krogh is Professor Emerita�of Elementary and Early Childhood Education at Western Washington University.

Pamela Morehouse is a retired Washington state elementary school teacher. She is an active trainer of teachers, recently returning from Pakistan where she volunteered to train teachers and administrators for The Citizens Foundation, a non-profit NGO. The text she used for the class was the first edition of the proposed book. She is currently developing a teacher-training program for Guatemala, centering on early literacy.

Very Well Done...But No High Scope

Really 4.5 Starts, not 4.

Krough & Morehouse present a very, very developmentally appropriate perspective on curriculums, programs, and models for early childhood education. I appreciate how they integrate Montessori, Reggio Emilia, and Head Start into their approach rather than presenting them in isolation in a 1-2-3 form. They truly believe that curriculum is about activities and experiences as springboards for exploration, not lock-step models.

One big problem, though: No High Scope. Everyone may not agree with its Piagetian-focused approach, but few can deny its major influence and visibility in early childhood. I do not see any of its terms (Plan-Do-Review, Active Learning, Key Developmental Indicators/Key Experiences) mentioned. That is surprising and, unfortunately, makes this book neglect something that others (namely Kostelnik et. al's book) covers extensively.

Otherwise, this is a fine secondary or tertiary text to keep on one's professional shelf.

English architect, designer, polemicist and convert to Catholicism, Augustus Welby Northmore Pugin (1812-1852) changed the course of Gothic Revival by linking it firmly to its medieval roots. No mere revivalist, he regarded Gothic as a living language, and his cathedrals, churches, colleges, seminaries, cottages and secular buildings are highly original and personal in their concern for context and texture. Pugin's design of the interiors of the Houses of Parliament reveals his mastery of pattern, color and ornament. He suffered periodic bouts of insanity and loss of eyesight, dying at 40 shortly after a complete mental breakdown, yet his legacy lived on in the Gothic movement in Europe and North America. The catalogue of an exhibition at the Bard Graduate Center for Studies in the Decorative Arts in New York City, this handsomely illustrated study includes essays by 10 American and English scholars who discuss his tragic life, his architectural theory and the full range of his work in ceramics, furniture, sacred vestments, metalwork, textiles, jewelry, stained glass, tiles and wallpaper.

A Beginners Guide Only

The book covers the mere basics but I have found better information online that is: more up to date, more detailed, better organized, and more informative.

- As of Nov 2013, many of the links and screenshots in the book are outdated. In particular, the section on the Google Keyword Tool is completely outdated since Google has replaced that tool. Other links are outdated, or do not include some major industry players.

- There is not a lot of detail in the book. Only the very basics are covered. Nothing is discussed in the level of detail necessary for a real world job in this field.

- Not a lot of guidance or insight is given. It is hard to believe the author is an expert in the field, when not much expertise or advice is given.

I'm entirely satisfied with the book!

I read a newspaper article about people making money buying and selling domain names. I decided to learn more about this to see if I might be able to do the same. I do not have a technical background and was a bit worried that this business required a level of technical expertise in order to be successful. The book eliminated my concerns and I feel that after reading it I am well versed in the basics of domaining. I actually read it three times and gained additional perspective with each reading. I did some keyword research as described in the book and bought five domain names. I'm going to park three of them and have affiliate websites created for the other two. Hopefully, I'm on the way to making passive income on these domain names, which each cost me $10. I think this book is a great resource for entry level domainers and I have no doubt that reading it prevented me from making some of the more common mistakes made by novices. I'm entirely satisfied with the book!

A New and Profitable Way to Invest!!!

I remember my first experience with the internet logging onto AOL for the first time in the mid-90s and hearing that sort of clunky sound as the modem connected online and that robotic voice of "You've Got Mail."

A few years after that I heard about people that were buying domain names and selling them for much higher prices. Back in that time period domain names were much more expensive, than they are today. And unless you had deeper pockets, then you were out of that game.

I never thought much more about buying domain names again, until I read Domainer's Bible: A Beginner's Guide To Buying and Selling Domain Names. The author relates how to identify and purchase undervalued domain names and then how to resell them for a higher and in many cases a much higher profit.

The book provides a roadmap for anybody that wants to get started, but even the most novice of domain investors can easily understand and implement. It makes sense doesn't it. If you look at our economy and the way the internet is growing by leaps and bounds, doesn't it make sense that website domain names will only continue to appreciate in value.

Why not learn how to add another stream of income in your investing plan!

Forget the stock market, where all you seem to hear is horror stories of people losing their shirts and pensions, and go with the uptrend of learning how to purchase domain names and sell them for profit.

On a personal note, I just purchased my first two domains (two very undervalued properties that I was easily able to identify according to the information in the book). Now I get to sell them according to his rules...How Exciting!
